About Agios Panteleimon Monastery

Northeast of Chora in the rural area of Marathi, lies this fortified monastery.
The large white building with small red windows boasts a beautiful wood carved chancel with many icons, the most notable of which is the Crucifix (Estavromenos) made by local painter Christodoulos Kallerghis. Unfortunately, the pretty blue and red church to the right of the entrance-way is closed to the public and only opens for its feast-day celebration in the middle of July.
